Can you get a job with just LeetCode?
Usually not. LeetCode helps you pass coding interviews, but most employers also want to see that you can do the job - build an API, work with a database, debug a running system. The strongest plan is both: practice algorithm problems for the coding round, and build 3 to 5 real projects for the resume and the rest of the interviews.
What LeetCode is good for
Many companies, especially large ones, use algorithm and data structure questions in their interviews. LeetCode is a good way to practice for those rounds: arrays, hash maps, trees, graphs, dynamic programming. Regular practice makes you faster and calmer under time pressure.
What LeetCode does not show
A resume with no projects often does not get you to the interview at all. And many interviews also ask about real work: system design, debugging, "tell me about a project you built." Algorithm practice does not teach you Docker, SQL tuning, logs, authentication or deploys.
How to split your time
If you are applying to companies known for algorithm interviews, give more time to LeetCode. If you are applying to startups or smaller companies, give more time to projects - they often use take-home tasks or practical interviews instead. A simple plan: a few problems a week, and one real project every one or two weeks.
Make your projects interview-ready
Pick projects close to the role: a rate limiter for backend, a production Dockerfile for DevOps, a secured login for security. Write each one up clearly so you can talk about it. HeyDevJob projects run in live cloud workspaces and each completed one goes on a public portfolio you can link from your resume.

How many LeetCode problems should I do?
There is no fixed number. Focus on patterns (two pointers, sliding window, BFS and DFS, dynamic programming) rather than a count, and review problems you got wrong.
Do all companies use LeetCode-style interviews?
No. Many companies use practical tasks, take-home projects, pair programming or system design instead. Read about the interview process of each company you apply to.
Is LeetCode useful for DevOps or security roles?
Less than for software engineering roles. Those interviews focus more on Linux, networking, cloud and hands-on scenarios, so projects matter more.
